Samsung Electronics Korea union officials said at a live news conference on Wednesday that the union has announced that it will begin taking strike action, including advising members to take annual leave on June 7 as a preliminary protest.
The union has about 28,000 workers, more than a fifth of the company’s workforce, according to union officials.
A group of union officials made the announcement while holding a banner that read: “We can no longer tolerate labor repression, union repression.”
Samsung Electronics had no immediate comment.
