CNBC’s Tanvir Gill and Causeway Capital Management’s Arjun Jayaraman
Indian markets have gone through a turbulent period since Prime Minister Narendra Modi failed to secure an outright majority for his party in India’s general election.
However, despite the unexpected results, Causeway Capital Management’s Arjun Jayaraman remains confident about the prospects for India, his top pick among emerging markets, noting that “volatility may provide a repositioning Opportunity”.
In a professional presentation on Wednesday, CNBC’s Tanvir Gill will ask Jayaraman how he steers investment in the country and other emerging markets. Portfolio manager and head of quantitative research at Causeway manages its emerging markets funds and International Opportunities Fund.
Both funds outperformed their benchmarks in the year to May 31, with the former up 13% compared with 3.5% for the MSCI Emerging Markets Index and the latter up 9.6% year-to-date. MSCI ACWI (excluding the United States) 6.1%.
While both funds invest in emerging market stocks, the International Opportunities Fund also holds shares of companies in developed countries outside the United States.
Jayaraman will discuss his favorite fund stocks, which range from big oil stocks and pharmaceutical companies in the UK to renewable energy companies in India.
