President Biden to hold recital press conference Thursday concluded a busy day of NATO summit events in Washington.
The news conference was a chance for the president to prove to voters that he can handle tough issues without a teleprompter, following his poor performance in a June debate with former President Donald Trump.
Since that debate failure, Biden has faced escalating pressure to withdraw from the presidential race as Democrats worry about his health and ability to defeat Trump in November.
Just before Thursday’s press conference, Biden made an embarrassing mistake at a NATO event commemorating Ukraine, incorrectly introducing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as “President Putin.”
