Five more House Democrats called on President Joe Biden to drop out of the race on Friday, with Biden’s campaign manager brushing off the calls, saying “the president will absolutely be in this race.”
Despite campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon’s vow, two people familiar with the matter told NBC News that Biden’s family has discussed if he drops out of the race against Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump , decides what he will look like.
So far, 25 House Democrats and two Democratic senators have urged Biden to withdraw.
The five House members who announced Friday they want the party to select a new nominee are Illinois Reps. Sean Casten and Chuy Garcia, California Rep. Jared Huffman, Texas State Rep. Mark Vesey and Wisconsin Rep. Mark Pocan.
The new tally means more than 10% of the 213-member Democratic House caucus has publicly called for Biden to step down.
Biden, who is quarantining at his home in Oceanside, Delaware, after contracting Covid-19, was also sentimental on Friday when the Congressional Hispanic Caucus’ political action committee endorsed the 81-year-old’s candidacy for re-election. Boost.
“This November, we will use the power of our community to defeat Donald Trump and his 2025 agenda and re-elect President Biden,” CHC Bold PAC said in a statement.
Earlier Friday morning, a Biden campaign memo obtained by NBC News said he would remain the Democratic presidential nominee in November and that the party had “no plans to replace the nominee.”

“I’m not saying it hasn’t been a tough few weeks on the campaign trail,” O’Malley Dillon said during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
“Without a doubt, it is,” O’Malley Dillon said. “We did see some decline in support, but it was a small change.”
She spoke after Casten published an editorial in the Chicago Tribune calling for Biden to withdraw, but not before four other House Democrats joined the call.
