A Secret Service official confirmed to NBC News that the Secret Service declined some requests from former President Donald Trump for additional security resources over the past two years.

The denied request had nothing to do with the July 13 shooting at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania that left the former president injured, one person dead and two others seriously injured.
“In some cases, where specific Secret Service specialized units or resources are not available, the agency will make modifications to ensure the safety of protected persons,” Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told NBC News. “This may include utilizing state or local partners to provide specialized functions or otherwise identify alternatives to reduce the protected person’s public exposure.”
Guglielmi’s announcement represents a change of script. On Sunday, he said the Secret Service had flatly rejected that claim. Trump team’s demands Extra security is “absolutely wrong”.
The Secret Service has been under intense scrutiny following Trump’s assassination.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) are among top Republicans calling on Chatel to resign, despite her insistence that she will remain in office.
“Of course she needs to be fired,” Rep. Mike Turner, R-Ohio, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, said Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” “President Biden should fire her. She’s clearly not going to resign.”
Turner will be one of the lawmakers questioning Chatel on the record this week on Capitol Hill, where she is expected to testify at several hearings about issues with security protocols surrounding rally shootings.
