U.S.-listed Li Auto said it delivered 51,000 vehicles in July, surpassing the 50,000 mark for the first time since December and setting a record for the company. The automaker said monthly deliveries of the Li L6, launched in April, have exceeded 20,000 units.

The SUV is the company’s cheapest model, with a starting price of 249,000 yuan ($34,373), and Tesla’Model Y in China. Li Auto’s other models are priced at more than 300,000 yuan.

Tesla only sells pure electric vehicles and does not break out monthly deliveries by country. China Passenger Car Association says Tesla has been sold in China Car ownership in June was 59,261.

Industry giant BYD announced that its passenger car sales in July totaled 340,000 units, of which more than 60% were plug-in hybrid vehicles. Sales of hybrid vehicles also increased by 44% compared with the same period last year, while sales of pure battery vehicles were slightly less than 14%.

This is in stark contrast to total sales figures for 2023, in which pure electric vehicles are growing faster than hybrids and account for just over half of BYD’s passenger car sales.

Aito, a brand jointly developed by Huawei, delivered 41,535 vehicles in July, down from 42,780 in June.

The technology company is focused on selling automotive software, not building cars. A July filing showed Huawei was selling Aito trademarks and patents to carmaker Seres for 2.5 billion yuan.
