China is offering its first university degree program in marriage, with courses including wedding planning, matchmaking services and marriage counseling.

Provided by Beijing Vocational University of Civil Affairs Four-year program in matrimonial services and managementdesigned to teach students how to participate in “the entire cycle of marriage and family,” Yu Xiaohui, dean of the School of Wedding Culture and Media Arts of the school, said.

Course modules include sociology, wedding venue design, family ethics, marriage industry economics and family policy. Students will also have the opportunity to intern at agencies specializing in weddings, matchmaking, marriage registration and counselling.

Civil Affairs Vocational University is a New agency of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China. In addition to the marriage management major, the school also offers degrees in smart medical management, social work, rehabilitation assistive device technology and funeral management.
