Taylor Swift’s Eras tour in Vienna has been canceled after Austrian police said it was a planned terror attack on the concert.
“Government officials have confirmed that a planned terrorist attack has occurred at the Ernst Happel Arena and for everyone’s safety we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled performances,” said event organizer Barracuda Music Week in the city. Sanwan posted on Instagram.
Taylor Nation, an Instagram account affiliated with Team Swift, retweeted the message on its Story.
According to the post, all tickets will be refunded and ticket holders can visit website ask for refund.
Swift’s website also appears to reflect the cancellation. Vienna shows now have a note under the “Tours” tab on her website with date and location information.
“*All tickets will be automatically refunded within the next 10 business days,” the description reads.
Swift has yet to say anything on social media or confirm the show’s cancellation.
Swift was scheduled to perform at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Arena on Thursday, Friday and Saturday for the international leg of her Eras tour.
Earlier Wednesday, officials said Two men were arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of planning attacks on major events in Vienna, Austria, including Swift’s upcoming concerts.
One of the men arrested by Austrian federal and state police was a 19-year-old man who allegedly Pledge allegiance to ISIS.
Officials said both men were radicalized online and allegedly developed specific and detailed plans on how to carry out attacks.
When the 19-year-old was taken into custody, the bomb squad allegedly discovered chemicals. Authorities said investigators were working to determine whether the substances could be used to make bombs.
Austria’s Cobra Unit, similar to the FBI’s hostage rescue team, assisted in the arrests.
A police official previously said There are no plans to cancel the concert and told reporters “the specific risk has been minimized”. It’s unclear why those plans changed.
Swift publicly expressed her concerns about terrorist attacks during a stadium show. In 2019, she told Elle magazine This is her biggest fear.
“After the Manchester Arena bombing and the Vegas concert shooting, I was so scared about this tour because I didn’t know how we were going to keep three million fans safe in seven months,” Swift said on ” Lover” said before.
She added: “A huge amount of planning, expense and effort goes into ensuring the safety of our fans.”
“My fear of violence carried over into my personal life,” Swift said. “I carry QuikClot military-grade bandage dressings for gunshot wounds or stab wounds.”
