Two Republicans speaking at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday — a former Trump White House adviser and the former Georgia lieutenant governor — urged Republican voters to support Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
Olivia Troy Served as counterterrorism advisor to then-Vice President Pence in the previous presidential administration. Jeff Duncan is the second-highest elected official in Georgia. Both men viewed the choice between Harris and Donald Trump as a test of patriotism.
“I’m going to focus my attention on the millions of Republicans and independents in this country who are tired of making excuses for Donald Trump,” Duncan said.
“Our party is neither civilized nor conservative. It’s chaotic and crazy. The only thing left to do is ditch Trump,” Duncan said.
“Look, you don’t have to agree with Kamala Harris’ policy positions. I don’t,” he said.
“If you vote for Kamala Harris in 2024, you are not a Democrat, you are a patriot,” he said.
“It’s scary to be in the Trump White House,” said Troy, who preceded Duncan. “But what keeps me up at night is what would happen if he went back there.”
Troy resigned from the Trump administration in 2020 to become a sound critic His handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I saw how Donald Trump undermined our intelligence community, our military leaders, and ultimately our democratic process,” she said.
“Now, he’s doing it again, lying and laying the groundwork to undermine this election.”
