The home of the Washington Commanders just got a new name.
The team’s stadium will be renamed Northwest Stadium New agreement with Northwest Federal Credit Union This will run through the 2030-31 season, according to a person familiar with the matter. The deal has an average annual value of about $8 million, according to people familiar with the matter.
The home of the NFL franchise in Washington, D.C., has since been without a naming rights partner fedex In February this year, the agreement with the commander was terminated two years early. The shipping giant has a contract with the football team from 1999 to the 2025 season.
“As we continue to work toward our goal of building the Commanders into an elite team that consistently competes for championships, we are excited to welcome our team and fans to Northwest Stadium and look forward to creating something incredible together on the court and in the community. memories of our service,” Washington Commander managing partner Josh Harris said in a statement.
The new agreement with Northwest Federal Credit Union is in addition to an existing stadium sponsorship agreement that generates approximately $2 million per year, according to people familiar with the matter. The deal does not include naming rights.
The expanded partnership includes Northwestern branding throughout the stadium, including a new stadium logo. Northwestern will also serve as the team’s jersey patch partner during offseason and in-season workouts. The partnership will also provide new benefits for Commanders fans who are members of Northwest Federal Credit Union, including discounts on tickets and merchandise.
Last year, Northwest Federal Credit Union became the Commander’s official credit union partner.
The Commanders are looking to build a new stadium in Washington, D.C. or Virginia. People familiar with the matter said that if the team moves into the new stadium before the end of the 2030-31 season, the Commanders have the right to find a new naming rights partner for the new stadium under the new agreement. The person added that the credit union does not have rights to the new stadium and does not have a right of first refusal on those rights.
The Los Angeles Rams currently have the most valuable stadium naming rights deal in the NFL. SoFi Stadium is also home to the NFL’s Chargers, but Rams owner Stanley Kroenke owns the stadium, so the Rams receive 85% of stadium sponsorship revenue.
