Taylor Swift endorses Kamala Harris after ABC presidential debate.

Pop superstar Taylor Swift endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president on Tuesday night, just minutes after the Democratic candidate ended a contentious debate with Donald Trump.

“I vote for @KamalaHarris Because she fights for rights and causes, I believe it takes a warrior to defend them,” Swift said in her statement. Instagram account, with over 280 million followers.

“I think she is a steady, gifted leader and I believe that if we lead with calm rather than chaos, we can lead in this country,” Swift wrote under a photo of herself holding her cat. Achieve more.

“I’m very excited and impressed by her choice of running mate. @TimwalzShe has been championing LGBTQ+ rights, IVF and women’s rights over their own bodies for decades,” Harris said, referring to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

Swift signed the post with her full name and called her a “kidless cat lady,” an apparent reference to Trump’s Republican running mate, Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance.

Vance has been heavily criticized for his comments in 2021 since he was nominated in July, calling several key Democrats, including Harris, miserable “childless cat ladies” who want to “make the rest of the country Also painful” and anti-family and anti-child.

Swift wrote that she recently “became aware that artificial intelligence ‘I’ had mistakenly endorsed Donald Trump for President being posted to his website.”

“This really made me fearful of artificial intelligence and the dangers of spreading misinformation,” she wrote. “This leads me to the conclusion that as a voter, I need to be very transparent about the actual plans for this election. The easiest way to combat misinformation is to tell the truth.”

Two Harris campaign officials told NBC News that the timing of Swift’s endorsement surprised the campaign.

But the singer endorsed President Joe Biden and his then-running mate Harris in the 2020 election.

“I don’t know,” Trump told reporters Tuesday when asked about Swift’s support for Harris.

“I’ve done my research and made my choice,” Swift wrote.

“Your research is yours and your choices are yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first-time voters: remember, in order to vote, you must register!” she wrote.

“I also find it much easier to vote early. I will link to registration locations and find early voting dates and information in my story.”
