Former President Donald Trump was safe Sunday after his campaign said it heard gunshots near him.
CNBC has not independently verified the gunfire.
A source familiar with the matter told NBC News on Sunday that the sounds were heard at Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, where the Republican presidential candidate was playing golf.
Sources said the former president was immediately taken to a safe location.
The Secret Service said in a statement Posted on X It said it was “investigating a protective incident involving Trump.”
Trump was injured in an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania in July.
