A suspect in the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump will make his first appearance in federal court in Florida on Monday.
A clerk at the U.S. District Court in West Palm Beach told CNBC the man, Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, is scheduled to appear before a magistrate judge at 10 a.m. ET The trial of Ryon McCabe.
Rouse was arrested on Sunday after U.S. Secret Service agents opened fire near Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach while the Republican candidate was playing a game.
An agent found a rifle with a scope in the bushes and fired several rounds, causing the gunman to flee the area in a black Nissan, officials said at a news conference Sunday. He was arrested in a neighboring county.
A rifle, two backpacks and a GoPro camera were found near the golf course, officials said.
In July, Trump was grazed by a bullet during an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.
