Dow Jones Industrial Average Futures The blue-chip stock average was little changed Thursday night after closing at a record closing level.
Futures tied to a 30-stock index rose just 7 points. S&P 500 Index Futures and Nasdaq 100 Futures rose 0.1% and 0.2% respectively.
After-hours investors focused on Netflixits shares rose more than 4% in a rebound after the earnings release. The streaming giant beat Wall Street expectations on both fronts in the third quarter, while reporting a 35% increase in advertising memberships from the previous three months.
The moves come after the stock market rebounded traveler promoted Dow Chemical It closed at a record closing high on Thursday. Broadly speaking S&P 500 Index Tech-heavy stocks edged lower despite hitting new intraday highs during the session Nasdaq Index It closed slightly higher.
The Dow Jones leads gains this week, with a gain of 0.9% expected. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq rose 0.5% and 0.2% respectively for the week.
With these gains, all three indexes posted their sixth consecutive weekly gain. That would mark the longest weekly winning streak for the Dow and S&P 500 in 2024.
On the economic front, investors will focus on housing starts and building permit data on Friday. They will also be watching for comments from central bank officials including Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic and Minneapolis Fed President Nir Kashkari.
American Express and Procter & Gamble is among the companies reporting earnings before the market opens Friday morning.
“Earnings season is about to kick off, and while there are some mixed signals, earnings appear to be in good shape,” said Liz Young Thomas, head of investment strategy at SoFi. “However, we are in the early stages and will be heading into the election and the next Fed meeting. The last few days have come.”
