A senior official with Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign said Friday they “fully expect” Donald Trump to be declared the winner before the votes are counted on Election Day.
But the official told reporters that “it won’t work.”
“He has done this before and it failed,” the unnamed official reportedly told a news conference. nbc news. “If he does it again, it will fail.”
The official said Republican candidate Trump “has been lying” and had already “sowed doubt on his expected impending defeat” against Democratic candidate and current Vice President Harris on Tuesday.
“At the same time, we are committed to making sure that all voters have the information to go out and vote, and that they have the confidence to do so safely and securely, and that they know that we will protect the vote, and that we, no matter what Trump and his campaign are doing, We’re all going to make sure it works,” the campaign official said.
Previously, Trump made baseless claims that there was massive “cheating” in voting in Pennsylvania, a key swing state in the election.
“Report cheating to the authorities. Law enforcement must take immediate action!” Trump wrote in a “Truth Society” post on Wednesday.
For four years, Trump has falsely claimed that he, not President Joe Biden, won the 2020 election.
He faces criminal prosecution in federal court in Washington, D.C., and state court in Atlanta for trying to overturn his defeat against Biden.
