The Georgia Court of Appeals on Monday canceled oral arguments until further notice in President-elect Donald Trump and other co-defendants’ efforts to remove Fulton County District Attorney Fannie Willis from the criminal election interference prosecution against them.
this Georgia Court of Appeals canceled the debate scheduled for December 5 on its own initiative.
Three other criminal cases against Trump have also stalled since he won the presidential election nearly two weeks ago.
Trump and other defendants were charged in state court in Atlanta with crimes related to trying to overturn his 2020 election loss to President Joe Biden in Georgia.
Earlier this year, the judge in the case, Scott McAfee, allowed prosecutor Willis to continue the case despite reports that she was in a relationship with a senior prosecutor on the case. .
Trump and the other defendants have appealed the ruling, and an appeals court suspended proceedings in the case in June pending the outcome of that effort.
A New York state judge in Manhattan last week delayed until Tuesday a ruling on whether to overturn Trump’s guilty verdict in the state’s hush-money criminal case. The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office has asked a judge to delay the trial, citing the need to evaluate the impact of Trump’s election victory on the case.
