Indian antitrust agency rejects request from India apple Shelving investigative report that found the company violation Competition law allowed the case to proceed, according to an internal order from the regulator seen by Reuters.

The CCI has asked all parties to return the report and destroy all copies. The regulator later issued a new report.
The internal CCI order shows that Apple claimed in November that the main complainant in the antitrust investigation – Indian non-profit organization “Together the Fighting Society” (TWFS) – failed to comply with instructions to ensure that old investigation reports were destroyed.
A CCI order dated November 13 and seen by Reuters showed that Apple asked the CCI to “take action against TWFS for non-compliance with its orders” and “preserve the revised” report.
“Apple’s request to suspend the investigation report is found to be untenable,” the CCI said in its order.
Apple did not respond to inquiries from Reuters.
The CCI did not respond outside normal business hours on Sunday. Calls to TWFS representatives went unanswered.
A CCI investigation found that Apple used its dominance of the iOS app store market to the detriment of app developers, users and other payment processors.
Apple denies wrongdoing and says it is a small company in India, where phones running Google’s Android system dominate.
The internal CCI order also revealed that Apple has been asked to submit audited financial statements for the financial years 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 as per regulatory guidelines to determine possible penalties in the case.
Senior officials of the CCI will review the investigation report and make a final ruling on the case.
