“All platforms in the EU, even the smallest platforms below the threshold (as is the case with Bluesky), must have a dedicated page on their website stating how many users they have in the EU and where they are legally established. As of now, this is not the case with Blue Sky,” the spokesman said.

He also said that the Commission has not yet contacted the company because Bluesky is below the threshold and is not classified as a very large platform under the EU Digital Services Act. Instead, it contacted the governments of 27 countries to check “if they could find any trace of the blue sky”.

Blue Sky did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment.
