FBI Director Christopher Wray told FBI employees on Wednesday that he will resign before the end of the Biden administration next month, NBC News reported.
Wray’s announcement clears the way for President-elect Donald Trump to appoint a new director to lead the FBI.
Trump announced his intention to nominate Day Kash Patel as FBI director in November.
“After weeks of careful thought, I have decided that the right thing for the FBI is to have me serve until the end of this administration in January and then,” Wray said Wednesday, according to prepared remarks released by FBI media. Resign.
