Asia-Pacific markets opened higher on Thursday, with some markets closed for Boxing Day.

Japanese Nikkei 225 Index rose 0.37%, and the Topix rose 0.49%. Korean Cospi It rose slightly by 0.12%, and the Kosdaq index rose by 0.48%.

Markets in Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong were closed for the Boxing Day holiday.

Asian traders will focus on November manufacturing output data from Singapore later in the day.

U.S. markets were closed overnight for Christmas. Stocks rose on Tuesday, ahead of Christmas, as markets continued their gains during the holiday week.

The S&P 500 rose 1.1% to 6,040.04 points; the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 390.08 points, or 0.91%, to 43,297.03 points. The Nasdaq rose 1.35% to 20,031.13 points, driven by a 7.4% rise in Tesla shares.

Tuesday marks the start of the seasonal Santa Claus rally, which occurs during the last five trading days of the year and the first two trading days of January.
