Germany’s federal police are experiencing a nationwide outage of airport IT systems, forcing officers to manually process passengers arriving from outside Europe’s free travel Schengen zone, a spokesman said on Friday.
A spokesman for Frankfurt said there was “currently a nationwide IT outage”, adding that the cause was not yet known.
He said flights into Germany were delayed but still possible and that there was currently no greater congestion at Frankfurt Airport, Germany’s busiest.
