President Joe Biden will deliver the eulogy at the state funeral of former President Jimmy Carter on Thursday morning.

The speech at the Washington National Cathedral will be one of Biden’s last public addresses before leaving the White House on January 20.

As Biden honors Carter’s legacy and prepares to hand over power to President-elect Donald Trump, he also leads the federal response to the historic wildfires that have destroyed thousands of acres in Los Angeles and continue to spread rapidly .

Biden was briefed on the latest impacts of wildfires before the funeral. He plans to convene senior government officials on Thursday afternoon to be briefed on the government’s response to the disaster.

Biden will address an audience that includes four other living U.S. presidents.

Trump sat in one of the front rows next to former President Barack Obama, along with former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. Former Vice President Mike Pence and Al Gore sat together in the back row.

Vice President Kamala Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff sat in front of the president-elect and his predecessor. They were joined by Biden and first lady Jill Biden before the ceremony began.
