LONDON — Britain’s Kate, Princess of Wales, revealed on Friday that she has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing treatment Chemotherapy.
In a statement about the film released Friday. She said she underwent major abdominal surgery in London in January and said her condition was initially thought to be non-cancerous.
“The surgery was successful. However, post-surgery tests revealed that cancer was already present. Therefore, my medical team recommended that I should undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of treatment,” her statement said.
“This is of course a huge shock and William and I have been doing everything we can to deal with and manage this matter privately for the sake of our young family.”
Kensington Palace said it was confident she would make a full recovery, according to the BBC.
Kate later added in her speech: “I am getting stronger every day by focusing on things that help me heal, my mind, body and spirit.” She asked for space and privacy as she completes her treatment . It has not been announced what type of cancer it is or what stage it was discovered at.
Kate remained in the hospital after the surgery. At the time, the details of the surgery had not been confirmed, and Kensington Palace said the 42-year-old Kate hoped the public would respect “her wish that her personal medical information remain private.” Buckingham Palace said at the time that Kate would not resume public duties until after Easter.
The princess has not been seen in public since Christmas 2023, when she was seen walking to church for a service with members of the royal family, including her children and husband, heir to the British throne Prince William.
Since news of her surgery broke, online frenzy over her condition and whereabouts has flooded social media. Buckingham Palace has been largely silent on the matter, which has at times added fuel to the fire.
The obsession with the photo of ex Kate Middleton reached its peak on March 10 after British news organizations published a photo of ex Kate Middleton on Mother’s Day. Later that day, British news organizations pulled the photo and issued a so-called “kill notice” after it was discovered that it had been excessively edited. Every detail of the image was scrutinized, from Kate’s hair to the children’s clothes, which look inconsistent, to the distorted-looking ledge in the background.
On March 11, Kensington Palace released a statement from Kate on social media, saying that she had edited the photo. “Like many amateur photographers, I occasionally experiment with editing. I would like to apologize for any confusion caused by the family photos we shared yesterday. I hope everyone celebrating Mother’s Day had a very happy Mother’s Day. C ,” it wrote.
Since then, images and videos of alleged Kates have appeared in British tabloids, further fanning the flames of conspiracy and conversation. Earlier this week, it was also reported that a staff member at the hospital where Kate was being treated attempted to access her files without permission.
Her father-in-law, King Charles III, announced in early February that he had been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer and had begun treatment.
