apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook arrived in Hanoi, Vietnam, on Monday as the U.S. tech giant looks to boost sales in new markets.
According to local media reports, Cook will meet with Apple users, developers and content creators during the two-day visit report.
The CEO posted photos on X with musicians in Hanoi on Monday. He drank a cup of egg coffee.
Cook’s visit comes at a time of testing for the U.S. technology giant. Data released by International Data Corporation (IDC) on Monday showed that global iPhone shipments fell by 10% annually in the first quarter of 2024.
Apple faces fierce competition in the high-end smartphone market in which it operates, especially in key markets such as China.
According to IDC data, Apple has quietly grown to become Vietnam’s third-largest smartphone supplier in terms of shipments, behind Chinese electronics manufacturers Oppo and Samsung. Vietnam has emerged as a key location for manufacturing as the Cupertino giant looks to diversify its product assembly away from China.
Apple’s reliance on its products has come under scrutiny in 2022 as strict Covid-19 prevention measures in China and worker unrest at Foxconn’s flagship iPhone factory disrupted production. Foxconn is a major assembler of Apple’s iPhones.
December, Nikkei Index Apple is reportedly moving some of its key iPad engineering resources to Vietnam. According to reports, the country is currently involved in the development and manufacturing of MacBooks, iPads, and Apple Watches.

“Vietnam is important to Apple not only because of its growing fan base there, but also because the industry is hedging its bets by diversifying manufacturing out of China. That includes key locations like Vietnam, where Samsung has long Doing business in Northern Vietnam.
“Apple’s diversification efforts also include devices such as laptops, in which contract manufacturers such as Quanta and Foxconn have invested.”
India has also become an important center for iPhone manufacturing.
Bloomberg reported last week that one-seventh of Apple’s iPhones are currently produced in India. Apple will start assembling the latest series of iPhones in India in 2022. India is also a huge consumer market for Apple.
Cook visited 61 environmental and human rights groups before visiting Vietnam is called Apple objects to the country’s detention of climate activists.
