Comcast announced on Wednesday that it will launch a prepaid, monthly, low-cost internet and phone plan called NOW.
The new plan is designed to make it easy for customers to opt in or cancel at any time using Xfinity and unlimited 5G. Comcast says NOW offers greater flexibility than fixed wireless options at a lower cost.
The program includes four different products:
- With NOW Internet, customers can choose 100 megabits per second, or Mbps, for $30 per month, or 200 Mbps for $45 per month, both of which include unlimited data.
- NOW Mobile, offers unlimited data calls and texts for $25 per line.
- NOW TV, which provides Xfinity Internet customers with on-demand and live streaming from more than 40 networks, costs $20 per month.
- NOW WiFi Pass, which provides unlimited access to Xfinity hotspots for 30 days, is $20.
“Consumers tell us they want low-cost, easy-to-use connectivity and entertainment options that offer the same capabilities as our leading Xfinity Same reliability and consistency. Simple and easy.
The NOW plan complements Comcast’s long-running low-income internet option called Internet Essentials, which bundles 50 Mbps for $9.95 per month. The company added that it has already tested NOW in several U.S. cities and expects a full nationwide rollout in the coming weeks. NOW TV and NOW WiFi Pass are available immediately.
Comcast has struggled with broadband growth over the past year, reporting net broadband losses in multiple quarters. The company has said it plans to change that, with Watson adding on the company’s earnings call in October that it’s “a pretty competitive environment.”
