U.S. stock futures were little changed late Monday as the S&P 500 snapped a six-day losing streak, driven by a rebound in technology stocks. Wall Street also looked ahead to key earnings and economic data later in the week.
Dow Jones Industrial Average Futures It’s flat. S&P 500 Index Futures fell 0.01%, while Nasdaq 100 Futures down 0.1%.
Investors took profit-taking on Monday. 30 stocks Dow Chemical It closed up 0.67%.this S&P 500 Index rose 0.87%, while Nasdaq Index up 1.11%. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq both ended six consecutive days of losses.
The moves come as investors buy dips following a sell-off in technology stocks such as NvidiaThe currency has taken a beating recently amid worries about rising inflation and the prospect of rising interest rates. Information technology was the best-performing sector in the S&P 500 on Monday. Nvidia gained more than 4% during the trading session. The chip giant’s shares fell nearly 14% last week, its worst weekly performance since September 2022.
“The short-term rebound in the market makes a lot of sense because we’ve had a rough week and a half, so now when we get into tech, we’re seeing a little bit of a rebound,” Ayako Yoshioka, senior portfolio manager at Wealth Improvement Group, told CNBC’s ” Closing Clock” said in the program.
Traders are also bracing for large-cap profit results to be released this week.first will be Tesla Report after the close on Tuesday. Electric vehicle stocks have underperformed this year, falling more than 40% on concerns about increased competition from Chinese rivals. Meta Platforms is scheduled to report results on Wednesday afternoon, with Alphabet and Microsoft reporting on Thursday.
Yoshioka added: “I think earnings from Microsoft, Alphabet and Meta will be critical in determining whether tech deals can continue to drive the market higher.”
On the economic front, investors will focus on New Home Sales Data Tuesday.
