Buckingham Palace said on Saturday that King Charles and other senior members of the British royal family would drop their sponsorship of nearly 200 charities and organizations following a review of their relationships with more than 1,000 groups.

The review was launched following the death of Queen Elizabeth to examine all charities and institutions in which she, Charles and his wife, Queen Camilla, were involved as president or patron.

Elizabeth is a patron of 492 organizations, Charles is a patron of 441 organizations and Camilla is a patron of 100 organizations. member.

Organizations can apply for a Royal Patron, who in return promotes their work and helps their achievements be widely recognized.

Organizations that will retain royal links include the Royal British Legion, the largest armed forces charity, the Dogs Trust, the Jockey Club and grassroots nature organization the Wildlife Trusts.

Buckingham Palace said the results of the review will be shared with relevant organizations this week on the first anniversary of Charles and Camilla’s coronation.
