South Korean authorities are investigating Samsung after assessing that two workers at one of its factories were exposed to radiation.
South Korea’s Nuclear Safety and Security Commission said in a statement translated by Google on Wednesday that the two hospitalized patients had “abnormal” symptoms of radiation exposure on their fingers.
The patient’s general blood test results were normal, authorities said.
Samsung did not immediately comment when contacted by CNBC.
The expected radiation exposure incident occurred at the Samsung Ki-Heung plant, which is located about 25 miles south of Seoul, the capital of South Korea.
Authorities said they had suspended use of the machine responsible for the incident. The exact cause of the radiation exposure is not yet known and the Nuclear Safety Commission is investigating.
The commission said further steps would be taken if any breach of security laws was confirmed.
