PricewaterhouseCoopers struck a deal with OpenAI on Wednesday, becoming the artificial intelligence company’s first resale partner and largest enterprise user.
The Big Four accounting firm said its U.S. and U.K. firms have signed a deal with the Microsoft-backed company to make ChatGPT Enterprise, a commercial version of its generative artificial intelligence chatbot, available to employees and clients.
PwC said in a blog post on Wednesday that the agreement will “expand our technology ecosystem, integrate GenAI more deeply into our enterprise, and enable us to extend artificial intelligence capabilities across the business to help accelerate the Customer Impact.
PwC said that through the deal, its US and UK employees and clients will have access to OpenAI’s latest tools, including the recently released ChatGPT-4o model and new features focused on speech and images.
PwC said in its post: “By being at the forefront of the OpenAI model and being the first company to announce integration into its practices, we are in a unique position to help clients leverage ChatGPT Enterprise for better, faster Way of working.
According to the Wall Street Journal, PwC will issue ChatGPT Enterprise licenses to more than 100,000 employees, including 75,000 in the United States and 26,000 in the United Kingdom. The deal was reported earlier. PwC did not specify the number of employees who will use ChatGPT Enterprise.
The company said: “By adopting ChatGPT Enterprise across our workforce, we will bring first-hand experience of AI transformation to clients, complementing our audit, tax and advisory services with a broad range of business and industry solutions “

This marks the first time OpenAI has agreed to a resale model to sell its popular artificial intelligence products.

PwC said it has been developing customized GPT to help its staff review tax returns, generate proposal responses and produce reports and dashboards.
PwC said it has also been helping clients accelerate the implementation of generative AI and has identified more than 3,000 internal use cases across different industries.
