Former President Donald Trump on Thursday called his hush-money criminal trial a “disgrace” after a New York jury found him guilty on all 34 criminal counts of falsifying business records.
“This was a rigged, disgraceful trial,” Trump told reporters outside the Manhattan Supreme Court courtroom.
“I’m a very innocent man,” Trump said.
“It doesn’t matter, I’m fighting for our country, I’m fighting for our Constitution. Our entire country is rigged right now.”
With the jury’s unanimous verdict, Trump became the first former U.S. president to be convicted.
“The real judgment will be made by the people on November 5th,” Trump said of Presidential Election Day. “They know what’s going on here, everyone knows what’s going on here.”
Trump is expected to appeal his historic sentence when he is sentenced on July 11, but legal experts say he is unlikely to overturn his conviction before Election Day.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who prosecuted the case, thanked his prosecutorial team and the jury at a news conference Thursday night.
“This type of white-collar prosecution is at the core of what we do,” Bragg said.
“I did my job. Our job is to follow the facts and the law without fear or favor, and that’s exactly what we do here,” he said.
“The only voice that matters is the voice of the jury, and the jury has spoken.”
News of the guilty verdict in the first of four criminal cases against Trump prompted strong reactions from allies and foes of the Republican presidential candidate.
“May 30, 2024 may be remembered as the day Donald J. Trump won the 2024 presidential election,” Eric Trumpone of the former president’s two adult sons wrote on the social media site X.
Meanwhile, Michael Cohen, Trump’s former personal attorney and mediator and a star witness in the trial, said in a statement that “today is an important day for accountability and the rule of law.”
“While this has been a difficult journey for me and my family, the truth always matters,” Cohen said.
