Fox News reports that Donald Trump plans to announce his running mate on Monday after speaking with the former president.
“He did confirm that the vice presidential pick will be made today,” Fox News’ Bret Baier said on the network just hours before the first day of the Republican National Convention.
Baier clarified that Trump’s decision would be announced later Monday. “Yes, yes. Today we are appointing a vice president,” Beyer said.
According to the news anchor, Trump also told Baier that “there will be other surprises.”

A long-drawn-out race has likely eliminated the three top contenders: Ohio Sen. Vance, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum and Florida Gov. Doug Burgum. State Senator Marco Rubio.
Both Vance and Rubio have been outspoken critics of Trump. In 2016, Vance called Trump a “total liar,” while Rubio slammed Trump as a “liar” when he ran against Trump in the 2016 Republican presidential primary.
Burgum is running against Trump in the current presidential primary cycle, although he has largely avoided direct criticism of the former president at the time.
All three have become active cheerleaders for Trump as the vice presidential race heats up.
