The leaders of Wall Street’s most powerful firms publicly condemned an assassination attempt on former President Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania over the weekend.
JPMorgan Chief Executive Jamie Dimon told employees on Sunday that he and his management team are deeply saddened by the political violence and attempts on Trump’s life. The shooting killed one bystander and injured two others.
“We must stand steadfastly together and oppose any act of hatred, intimidation or violence that seeks to undermine our democracy or cause harm,” Dimon said in the memo. “Only through constructive dialogue can we confront our nation’s most serious challenges. challenge.”
Goldman Sachs Chief Executive David Solomon addressed the incident at the start of Monday morning’s earnings call, calling the assassination attempt a “horrible act of violence.”
“We are glad he is safe and offer our sincere condolences to the families of those who were tragically killed and seriously injured,” Solomon said. “This is a sad time for our country. There is no place for violence in our politics. ”
Saturday’s shooting shocked the country as it prepares to hold disputed November elections. Wall Street firms do not formally endorse political candidates because they must deal with Republican and Democratic officials, although their top executives and employees often donate to campaigns.

BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, said in an email on Sunday that it ran an ad in 2022 that featured accused shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks. Other Bethel Park High School students appear briefly in the background together.
“We will provide all video footage to the appropriate authorities and have removed the video out of respect for the victims,” BlackRock said in a statement.
“As our leadership team communicated to colleagues last night, BlackRock strongly condemns any form of political violence and will do our part to promote civility and unity in the country,” the company said.
