“Senator Baldwin is like a rubber stamp, I vote for him 95.5 percent of the time,” Hovde said in brief remarks. “Biden, with Baldwin’s help, has weakened us on every front.”
The Wisconsin businessman, who is campaigning in a key battleground state, went on to accuse Biden of expanding the federal deficit, fueling runaway inflation and squeezing consumers’ wallets.
This economic line of attack has become a standard tactic for Republican campaigns as the high cost of living remains top of mind for voters. However, monthly inflation data fell for the first time in the latest consumer price index, a sign of optimism as the U.S. economy teeters on its post-pandemic recovery.

President Biden is working on a sweeping set of Supreme Court reform proposals that would include possible term limits for judges and new ethics rules, three sources confirmed to NBC News.
Sources said the news could be announced in the coming weeks.
During a closed-door virtual meeting with members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus on Saturday, Biden said he had been consulting with constitutional scholars for more than a month on the proposed legislation, a person familiar with the matter told NBC News.
A White House spokesman declined to comment to NBC News.
Biden’s proposed Supreme Court reforms would come after the high court ruled that Trump is immune from criminal prosecution for “official acts” he committed while he was president. The decision creates serious complications for special counsel Jack Smith’s four-count election interference charge against the former president.
“Look, this is not, this is not hyperbole, to say that Trump is actually an existential threat to the democratic constitution that we say we care about,” Biden told lawmakers at Saturday’s meeting, sources said. existential threat.
The congressional session comes before Donald Trump was assassinated at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday night.
Trump scored another major legal victory on Monday from Florida federal judge Erin Cannon, who dismissed special counsel Smith’s case accusing the former president of illegally possessing classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. Smith plans to appeal the ruling.

House Democrats have been gathering signatures for a letter urging the Democratic National Committee to slow down the nomination process for President Joe Biden.
The Democratic National Committee decided in May that it would hold a “virtual roll call” for delegates to vote and formally designate a presidential candidate, a process that could begin as early as Sunday.
The virtual roll call would put Biden as the nominee just weeks before the Democratic National Convention, where delegates have historically voted in person.
With Democrats still having significant reservations about Biden’s re-election, the lawmakers wrote in the letter that it would be a “terrible idea” for the Democratic National Committee to speed up its nomination timeline.
Two sources told NBC News that the letter received signatures earlier Tuesday from more than 20 Democrats with varying views on Biden’s political future. The Democratic National Committee and the Biden campaign both support a virtual roll call.
