More than 90,000 people have signed up to attend Monday night’s “Harris’s handsome white guyThe Zoom fundraising and organizing rally will feature comments from several of Vice President Kamala Harris’ potential Democratic running mates.

The response was nine times the initial target of 10,000 registrations that organizers had set for the event days earlier. The call was the male version of the “White Women: Answering the Call” Zoom fundraising conference that drew more than 160,000 women to support Harris last week.

“Ninety-nine days later, we have an opportunity to help Kamala Harris make some history, and we also have an opportunity to change some minds, have some hard but fair conversations, meet with other white people, and address some issues that, frankly, are still there. Not resolved.

"We are honest, open, and ready to support our first black female president,"

Speakers at the 8 p.m. ET Zoom event include U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz Walz) and Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, both reportedly considered possible running mates.

These four people are also “white” themselves.

Harris campaign co-chairman Mitch Landrieu and actors Mark Hamill, Mark Ruffalo, Misha Collins and Josh Gad will also speak at the event.

Harris became the Democratic Party’s de facto nominee last week after President Joe Biden announced he was withdrawing from the 2024 election race against former President Donald Trump and endorsed Harris as the party’s nominee.

If elected, Harris would be the first woman and the second person of color to be elected president of the United States. The vice president’s father is black from Jamaica and her mother is from India.

Trump and his running mate, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, are both white.
