Former President Donald Trump said on Monday he would provide Tesla If he wins a second term in the White House, SpaceX CEO Musk will get a Cabinet position or serve as an adviser in the government.
Trump told Reuters in an interview that he would appoint Musk to such a position “if he wanted to.”
But the Republican candidate also said he would consider eliminating the $7,500 tax credit for certain new electric vehicles. That could impact Tesla’s business, which sells electric vehicles.
“Tax credits and tax breaks are generally not a good thing,” Trump told Reuters after a campaign event in York, Pennsylvania.
Musk endorsed Trump in July, shortly after the former president narrowly escaped assassination at a campaign rally in western Pennsylvania.
