One of the largest diamonds ever mined was found in a mine owned by Canadian company Lucara Diamonds in Botswana.
The 2,492-carat diamond is the second largest in the world, more than a century after a 3,106-carat stone was discovered in South Africa in 1905. Cullinan Diamondwas cut into nine large pieces, many of which were incorporated into the British Crown Jewels.

Lukla said the discovery follows other major discoveries at the same Karowe diamond mine, including 1,758 carat Sewelô diamond 2019 and the 1,109-carat Lesedi La Rona diamond 2015.
