It’s the latest, most advanced iteration in two decades of robot development by Engineered Arts, a humanoid robot manufacturer based in Cornwall, England.
Ameca is an advanced machine designed to interact with humans for entertainment and social purposes.
Its head alone contains 27 motors, helping it replicate human facial movements. Each of its eyes has cameras, allowing Ameca to “see” the world around it.
The robot also has the ability to understand and answer questions posed by humans. how? Ameca can run large artificial intelligence models, which are the basis of ChatGPT. Currently, Engineered Arts is trialling OpenAI’s latest AI model, GPT 4.
Ameca can also tell jokes, respond in the voice of a celebrity or famous TV character, and even dance. She even addressed concerns about whether robots pose a threat to humans.
The robot can’t walk yet, but Engineered Arts is developing technology to allow Ameca to walk.
