Earnings season is upon us, with about one-fifth of the companies in the S&P 500 set to report results this week. As of Friday, 14% of companies reporting on S&P reported earnings and revenue up 4% from a year earlier. Transportation-related stocks will dominate the week, with Tesla, General Motors and boeing company. Here are the key reports to watch:
3. The end is in sight
Boeing is expected to report dismal results, in part due to a machinist strike that halted aircraft production. The shutdown could end soon. The company and its machinists union An agreement was reached on the new contract proposal, which workers must approve in a vote on Wednesday. The deal includes a 35% pay increase over four years, a higher signing bonus of $7,000 and higher 401(k) contributions, among other measures. The strike has been going on for more than a month. Boeing, already in crisis after a door jam exploded on a plane earlier this year, said earlier this month it expected to report a deep loss and announced it would cut 10% of its workforce.
