Mark Cuban said Monday that Vice President Kamala Harris is running for president against Elon Musk just as she opposed former President Donald Trump, advocating for the Democratic nominee as a pro-business option .
“This is the Harris campaign versus Elon, and it’s not even Trump,” the billionaire investor and former “Shark Tank” host said on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”
Cuban hits hard Tesla Musk pledged to give $1 million a day to the winner of a swing-state voter lottery, calling it “innovative” and “desperate.”
But Cuban later predicted that if Harris won, she would “100 percent” be able to repair her relationship with Musk.
Cuban’s comments were the latest exchange of blows between the two billionaires, who have taken on increasingly prominent roles in the campaign while stepping up their attacks on each other.
Musk has repeatedly donated tens of millions of dollars to pro-Trump super PACs Making fun of Cuban’s appearanceafter Cuban said few other executives supported the Republican nominee.
Cuban fired back on Thursday: “You can’t stop thinking about me @elonmusk can you?”
In a post on Musk’s social media platform Find entertainment.
On Monday morning, Cuban called out Musk again on CNBC.
When asked about the latest polls, Cuban said, “No one really knows, so the final outcome is how the vote turns out.” The latest polls generally show a close race between Harris and Trump.
“The crazy thing is, this is the Harris campaign versus Elon, not even Trump,” Cuban said.
As the world’s richest man, Musk has indeed become one of the most prominent surrogates of the Trump campaign and one of the biggest spenders in the 2024 election. He led the get-out-the-vote effort in the key swing state of Pennsylvania, donating nearly $75 million to his US political action committee between July and early September alone.
Trump now regularly boasts of Musk’s support and says the CEO could play an important role in his administration if he wins the election.
Musk, in turn, has come to embrace his status as one of Trump’s most important supporters.
On Saturday, Musk said he would randomly donate $1 million a day to registered voters who signed the PAC petition.
“It’s innovative and it’s desperate,” Cuban said of the giveaway on CNBC. “You just do it because you think you have to.”
Cuban acknowledged that the lottery “isn’t a bad idea,” but he didn’t believe it would work.
“It can easily backfire,” he said, “but you won’t know unless you try.”
Cuban continued to argue that Harris is a better presidential candidate for small businesses and the economy on multiple fronts, while contrasting her with Trump.
He said Harris has pledged not to raise taxes on Americans making $400,000 a year or less, a group Cuban noted includes most small business owners.
Cuban, founder of Cost Plus Drugs, also pointed out that Harris is focused on lowering health care and drug prices by working with pharmacy middlemen. He believes these savings can offset inflation for households and small businesses.
“She came out and talked about it. Donald Trump said nothing.”
He also believes Harris’s approach to solving illegal immigration is better for businesses than Trump’s proposed mass deportation plan.
“I sat in front of the restaurateur and I asked, ‘What would happen if suddenly there was a knock on your door and someone from Stephen Miller’s team asked you for your name, address and immigration status? Everybody who worked for you? ‘ “Cuban said.
“This is not the way to run a country.”
Cuban also reiterated his criticism of Trump’s vow to use sweeping tariffs as his primary tool in economic and foreign policy. Cuban said it was “crazy” for Trump to propose using tariffs to prevent China from invading Taiwan.
