Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday blasted Donald Trump for reportedly praising him adolf hitlerand said the Republican presidential candidate “wanted unchecked power.”
Democratic nominee Harris spoke at her residence in Washington, D.C., a day after reports that Trump’s former White House chief of staff recently gave a John Kellywho recounted Trump’s comments about Nazi leaders while he was president.
“Donald Trump’s invocation of Adolf Hitler, who was responsible for the deaths of six million Jews and hundreds of thousands of Americans, is deeply disturbing and extremely dangerous,” Harris said.
“Yesterday, we learned that Donald Trump’s former chief of staff, retired four-star general John Kelly, confirmed that during Donald Trump’s presidency, he said he wanted generals like Adolf Hitler,” she said.
“Donald Trump says that because he doesn’t want a military that’s loyal to the Constitution of the United States, he wants a military that’s loyal to him.”

Harris’ statement came less than two weeks before the Nov. 5 presidential election, which she made in a warning to Trump. Millions of Americans have already gone to the polls in states that allow early voting.
“Donald Trump is increasingly unhinged and unstable,” Harris said.
“In a second term, people like John Kelly will not be the guardrails around his tendencies and behaviors. Those who once tried to stop him from pursuing his worst impulses will no longer be there, nor will they be there. Come on. Restrain him.
“So the bottom line is, we know what Donald Trump wants. He wants unchecked power. The question 13 days from now will be, what does the American people want,” she said.
CNBC has asked a Trump campaign spokesperson for comment.
Kelly, who served as Trump’s homeland security secretary before becoming White House chief of staff, told reporters new york times Trump fits the definition of fascism and if he is re-elected, he will govern like a dictator if left unchecked.
“He certainly prefers a dictator’s way of government,” Kelly told The Times.
Kelly also said in an interview for Jim Sciutto’s book “The Return of the Great Powers” that Trump was told, “Okay, but Hitler did some good things.”
