Asia-Pacific markets opened mixed on Friday after Wall Street benchmarks Nasdaq Index and S&P 500 Index Microsoft suffered its worst day in nearly two months amid pessimistic earnings forecasts and pessimistic earnings from Meta.
Traders awaited a slew of economic data from the region, including Australia’s third-quarter producer price index and China’s Caixin manufacturing purchasing managers’ index for October.
Japanese Nikkei 225 Index The opening price of the Chicago futures contract seemed to be relatively weak, with the Chicago futures contract at 38,470 points and the Osaka futures contract at 38,370 points, while the last closing price of the index was 39,081.25 points.
Hong Kong Hang Seng Index futures were at 20,432 points, rebounding from the previous closing point of 20,317.33 points.
Australian S&P/ASX 200 Index The opening price fell 1%.
All three major U.S. stock indexes fell overnight.
The S&P 500 fell 1.86% to close at 5,705.45 points Nasdaq Index The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 2.76% to close at 18,095.15 points, both recording their largest one-day decline since September 3.
It marked the final trading day of a tumultuous month on Wall Street, with the 30-stock Dow Jones Industrial Average down 1.3% for the month, the S&P 500 down 1% and the Nasdaq down 0.5%.
