Hedge fund chief John Paulson dropped consideration as potential nominee on Tuesday Ministry of Finance Secretary to President-elect Donald Trump.
“My complex financial obligations will prevent me from taking an official role in President Trump’s administration at this time,” Paulson said.
“However, I intend to remain an active member of the President’s economic team and help implement President Trump’s outstanding policy proposals,” Paulson said in a statement.
Trump’s donor is the head of the Paulson & Co. hedge fund, who is famous for betting against the subprime mortgage market in 2007, a year before the financial crisis.
Paulson predicted in September that the stock market would collapse if Vice President Kamala Harris won the presidential election.
