Tesla yes remember 2,431 Cybertrucks reportedly need replacement of defective drive inverters notify The National Highway Traffic Administration made the announcement Wednesday.

This is the sixth Cybertruck recall since the angle-steel pickup went on sale about a year ago. The Cybertruck sells for about $80,000 in the United States.

Tesla has resolved a previous Cybertruck recall issue through an over-the-air software update that caused the truck’s backup camera image to not display correctly after the driver reversed. The latest Cybertruck recall requires the replacement of a part called the drive inverter, which provides power to the vehicle’s wheels.

“If the inverter stops producing torque, the driver will lose the ability to use the accelerator pedal to apply torque to the vehicle, resulting in a loss of propulsion that could increase the risk of a collision,” Tesla wrote in a report. statement.

In the third quarter of 2024, the Cybertruck became the third best-selling all-electric vehicle in the United States, behind Telsa’s Model Y and Model 3 electric vehicles.

Tesla is currently facing four known National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigations into possible safety flaws in its vehicles. The most serious question is whether the company’s advanced driver assistance systems, which go by the name “Full Self-Driving Supervision,” can be used safely in low-visibility conditions, such as harsh sunlight and fog.

Tesla CEO Musk has been in conflict with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and other federal regulators for years. That tension is now in the spotlight after Donald Trump won the election last week.

As a major supporter of President-elect Trump’s campaign, Musk was given a new office nicknamed the “Department of Government Effectiveness” by Trump. While the office has not yet been established or funded by Congress, Musk has said he intends to use his influence to cut federal spending and regulations and change federal motor vehicle safety standards, in part implemented and enforced by NHTSA.

Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
