Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s new golf league, TGL, is getting some new star power to represent New York.

Steve Cohen’s family office, Cohen Private Ventures, announced Thursday that Eli Manning, Derek Jeter, CC Sabathia, Michael Michael Strahan, John McEnroe and Jimmy Fallon will join New York Golf Club’s investment group as limited partners. It’s the latest round of big-name additions to golf’s upstarts, which kicks off on Jan. 7 to coincide with the start of the 2025 FedEx Cup season.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Cohen, who also owns Major League Baseball’s New York Mets, took ownership of the New York Golf Club last September. Ricky Fowler, Xander Schauffele, Matt Fitzpatrick and Cameron Young will represent the team in its inaugural season.

“New York has some of the greatest fans in the world, and we’ve built a team that makes New Yorkers proud,” Cohen told CNBC. “We believe this fresh, innovative take on the sport will appeal to traditional and New golf fan.

Manning, the former New York Giants Super Bowl-winning quarterback, said he has witnessed firsthand the passion New Yorkers have for sports.

“The game of golf is seeing a number of exciting trends, with participation increasing on and off the course,” Manning said in a statement to CNBC.

TGL is a new prime-time high-tech golf league launched by Woods, McIlroy and Golf Channel executive Mike McCully. The league will be operated in partnership with investor PGA Tour and will complement the tour schedule. ESPN acquired the league’s broadcast rights last October.

TGL will invite Tour players to split into six teams for two hours of head-to-head competition at a newly designed facility in Palm Beach, Florida.

The league was expected to launch in 2024, but the dome built to host the games collapsed after a power outage.

Other big-name investors in TGL include NBA legends Stephen Curry, Shaquille O’Neal and Kevin Durant; MLB superstars Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout; National Football League quarterback Josh Allen; and tennis legend William Jr. Si; and Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton.

Former New York Yankees star Jeter told CNBC he was attracted to the investment opportunity because it combines his passion for golf and his love for New York.

“I look forward to seeing the NYGC add to New York’s sports legacy,” Jeter said.
