Gemini is Google’s suite of generative artificial intelligence tools, ranging from chatbots to coding assistants.
According to BloombergApple is in talks with Alphabet’s Google to let the iPhone maker license and build its Gemini artificial intelligence engine into iPhones.
Bloomberg quoted people familiar with the matter as saying that the two technology giants are “actively negotiating” to support Gemini in providing support for certain new features in the iPhone software to be released later this year.
Alphabet’s Class A shares rose 2.71% in pre-market trading at 4.45am ET, while its Class C shares up 2.41%. Apple shares rose about 0.51%.
Apple may launch iOS 18, its latest iPhone operating system, at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June.
The tech giant has also recently held discussions with OpenAI and is considering using its model, according to sources quoted by Bloomberg.
However, the report said, “the parties have not yet decided on the terms or branding of the AI agreement, nor have they finalized how it will be implemented.”
Apple and Google did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment.
