Amazon‘s Ring partners with fire safety product maker Kidde to launch connected products smoke alarmthe company announced Monday at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The two companies plan to launch child The smoke and carbon monoxide alarms integrate with Ring’s home security technology and can send alerts to the Ring mobile app. The Kidde Smart Smoke Alarm with Ring is priced at $54.97, and the Kidde Smart Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm with Ring is priced at $74.97. As part of the launch, Ring will also launch a $5 monthly subscription service that gives users access to 24/7 professional monitoring and emergency dispatchers.
Amazon reportedly acquired Ring in 2015 for $1 billion. The home security company is primarily known for its video doorbell devices, which allow users to record activity outside their homes, although the company has expanded to include a range of products from camera-equipped floodlights to flying security photography drones.
Amazon doesn’t disclose sales for its Ring unit, but Ring and rival home security company SimpliSafe account for a fifth of the U.S. market for professional surveillance systems.
