President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for Treasury secretary testified before the Senate Banking Committee on Thursday, both laying out his vision for the position and setting out the new administration’s economic agenda.
Businessman Scott Bessent, an investor, hedge fund manager and billionaire political donor who once worked with George Soros, will speak and then answer questions from the panel problem.
In a statement he is expected to make, the expected Cabinet nominee will lay out Trump’s vision for America.
“Today, I believe President Trump has a generational opportunity to usher in a new golden era of economics that will create more jobs, wealth and prosperity for all Americans,” Bessant said in his speech.
“President Trump is the first president in modern times to recognize the need to change our trade policy and stand up for American workers,” he added.
