Ahmed Mazhari, president of Microsoft Asia, said that not speaking up at work comes with a price of sincerity. Here’s why.
Sometimes you may be hesitant to speak your mind at work. But if you don’t share your thoughts, you miss the opportunity to express your sincerity, said Ahmed Mazhari, president of Microsoft Asia.
He told CNBC’s “My Biggest Lesson”: “Sincerity is about clarity, and when you are clear, you have to share how you feel.”
Managers also have a role to play in promoting open communication, Mazzarri said. While he encourages employees to speak up, that can only happen if the boss creates an environment where people feel comfortable expressing their opinions.
“Sometimes, great ideas never come to the surface because there is no courage to speak up, or the environment to speak out is not created,” he said.
