apple on Wednesday said it was investigating an App Store outage on iOS and MacOS devices.
The iPhone maker generates 19% of its revenue from its services category, including some from the App Store. For most apps, developers keep all revenue generated through the App Store, but Apple receives a commission when people buy a single app and make in-app purchases.
Apple said in its update: “Users are experiencing issues using this service. We are investigating and will update the status as more information becomes available.” System status page. The timestamp for the downtime update is 6:31 PM ET.
Some people posted screenshots on social media showing error messages when they tried to open the App Store on their iPhones.
This isn’t the first time the App Store has been unavailable. Apple says there will be problems with the service in 2022.
Apple TV+, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts and other company services also experienced technical issues on Wednesday, according to the page.
It’s been a tough few months for Apple, with its shares down 12% this year while the S&P 500 is up 9%. Last month, the U.S. Department of Justice sued Apple, saying it exploited the popularity of the iPhone to challenge competition.
