All-inclusive hotels are a huge draw for luxury travelers.
Demand for all-inclusive resorts surges in wake of pandemic, according to one company JLL’s report on the hotel and hotel industry. According to reports, travelers suddenly collectively want vacations that are stress-free and easy to plan, preferably with a healthy component.
That’s when travelers discovered that the all-inclusive resorts of the past — known for bottom-shelf booze and quantity-over-quality dining — had changed.
Much of the industry has become luxurious.
According to JLL, “upscale” and luxury resorts in the Dominican Republic will account for 47% of total all-inclusive resort supply as of 2022, up from 31% in 1990. The numbers are even higher in Mexico, where upscale and luxury all-inclusive resorts will account for more than half (55%) of its all-inclusive resorts by 2022.
Prices at all-inclusive resorts, once considered a relatively cheap way to travel, have also risen, according to JLL, and are quickly surpassing 2019 levels.
Marriott and Hilton has also expanded into areas that travelers don’t typically associate with all-inclusive resorts, such as DoubleTree, Westin and The Luxury Collection.
Private beach and butler service
Resort operators have upgraded the all-inclusive experience, offering everything from luxury suites to special resort privileges.
